In-depth Analysis of JEE Paper 1 & 2:

·        The Question Paper – I for B.E. / B.Tech courses in 2016 is similar to pattern of 2011 to 2015. Paper has objective type questions multiple choices with one out of four correct with equal weightage to Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

·        There were 30 questions each in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with four marks for right answer and for each in-correct response, one-fourth of the total marks allotted to the question would be deducted from the total score.

·        The paper was set from the CBSE syllabus of Class 11 and 12, however as expected many of the questions were conceptual, and some needed analytical skills.

·        About 27 questions were easy, 48 questions were of moderate difficulty and 15 questions were of relatively higher difficulty.

·      In all the three subjects, five to six questions were framed quite differently. Few of them were also ambiguous.

·    In Physics, there were two questions which had more than one correct answer, leaving students in confusion.

·      Mathematics paper was good but lengthy, and chemistry paper was pretty much memory-based.

·   Paper is balanced and is set from CBSE syllabus of Class XI and XII, however as expected many of the questions is conceptual with some needing analytical skills. About 27 questions are easy, 48 questions are of moderate difficulty and 15 questions are of relatively higher difficulty.

·      Few questions in Physics were tricky and challenging but compared to last year this section was a lot tougher. Further Q. 84 (Set F) has two answers. One or two questions in Chemistry were of tricky prima-facie type. Q 17 (Set F) appears to have no matching answer in choices given. Mathematics compared to last year is shade tough with few questions being quite lengthy compared to normal.

·      In all the three subjects, five to six questions were framed quite differently. Few of them were also ambiguous. In Physics, there were two questions which had more than one correct answer, leaving students in a dilemma whether to leave it or attempt it. In addition, two questions were confusing and anyone who tried attempting them might have wasted a fair bit of their valuable time.

·   Mathematics paper was good but lengthy.  Chemistry paper was pretty memory-based with its only one question a little difficult.

While on one hand, the exam was comparatively tougher this year, on the other hand JEE Main 2016 Cutoff may remain on lower end. This year, a total of 12,07,257 students had registered for this national level entrance exam. The engineering institutes which conduct admission on basis of JEE Main 2016 Rank include NITs, IITs, GTTIs and other premier colleges.

Candidates, who appeared for the exam, said that the overall exam was tough. The questions were of moderate difficulty level with Physics section being the toughest. Questions from Chemistry section were the easiest.
