Clearing JEE Main and Advanced in Single Attempt

To clear the JEE Exam, students will have three attempts. The first stage of the exam, called the JEE Main, will be used to determine admissions into the National Institutes of Technologies(NITs) and government funded engineering colleges. The second stage called the JEE advanced will determine admissions into the various Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
The test will be available both as a paper based test and an online test. The offline test would be conducted on the 7th of April, 2013 and the online tests will be conducted between 8th and 30th of April, 2013. Students can write the test in either way.
“The number of attempts which a candidate can avail JEE (Main) shall be limited to three for all the candidates in consecutive years,” said the document. The exam can also be taken by those candidates who have finished their class 12th exam in 2011 or 2012 in addition to those who will appear for it in 2013. Also, these students can take up the class 12th exam again to improve them, as 40% of the weightage will be given to these marks.
The three-hour exam will have objective type questions and multiple-choice questions. For each wrong answer, one-fourth of a mark will be cut, but there will be no deductions for not attempting.
